Iver is a civil parish in south Buckinghamshire, just across the county boundary from Uxbridge. It is one of the areas we cover most regularly, and it has more going on than its size suggests.
The three parts of Iver
Locals distinguish between Iver Village, the original settlement with its Saxon-era parish church of St Peter; Iver Heath, sitting on a triangle of converging lanes to the north; and Richings Park, a residential area with its own Victorian church, St Leonard's.
Pinewood Studios
Iver Heath is home to Pinewood Studios, one of the best-known film studios in the world. Heatherden Hall within the grounds has its own place in political history. The studios bring a steady flow of crew and visitors to what is otherwise a quiet area.
Green space
Black Park and Langley Park sit close by, either side of the A412. Black Park has a lake, a cafe, a weekly parkrun and a high ropes course, and has appeared as a filming location many times over the years. Langley Park is known for its rhododendrons in the Temple Gardens through late spring.
Getting around
Iver station is on the Elizabeth Line, which has made journeys into central London considerably easier. For the airport, Heathrow is a short run to the south. Neither Pinewood nor the country parks are near a station, which is where a pre-booked car tends to be the practical option.
